Mike, I never once said that I was Asian. My entry was partly tongue-in-cheek but at the same exploring the possibility that I have some Asian ancestry at same point in time which may or may not be true but is that much of a stretch at all.

Many multi-generational descendants of New World country migrants such as myself often find that are a lot more 'mixed' that they previously realised (a recent example is Michelle Obama @ http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/oct/09/michelle-obama-white-slave-owner). The fact that a lot of my ancestors settled in the Gulgong area of New South Wales, Australia shortly after their arrival to the country - an area which experienced a Gold Rush and resultant influx of Chinese miners doesn't make my assumption that incredibly far-fetched. There's no doubt I'm predominately (95%+) Caucasian, but I already know I have some Jewish ancestry and almost definitely Aboriginal ancestry. Perhaps there is some distant Asian ancestry too.

The reference to Mao Zedong was flippant and quite cultural insensitive in hindsight as Mao was one of the most brutal figures of the 20th century. Random Koreans who mention that I look 'Asian' may be either yanking my chain, clueless or genuinely believe I'm on part Asian descent, I'm not sure.

I'm just saying whilst I don't believe I'm Asian, there's the possibility of some distant Asian ancestry in my family history, not likely but not incredibly unlikely either.

Cheers
